Tara's top six ways to avoid chronic low pain:
- Good ergonomics and lumbar support wherever you spend a lot of time sitting!
- Men, do not have a wallet in your back pocket that you are sitting on! This is low back suicide!
- Keep your hamstrings loose! (have a professional show you how).
- Keep your piriformis muscle loose! This is the muscle that traverses your butt. (have a professional show you how).
- Keep your abdominals firm. Many ways to do this. Work with someone who can show you how to target your abs without hurting your neck or back!
- Keep your psoas loose. This is the muscle that goes from your lower back to your inner thigh. If you sit a lot this could be the ONLY problem with your back!
There a few more tricks that a pro will need to show you in person, but this is an excellent start!
